Maria Chetskaya

Contributing Writer

I received my first degree in Developmental Economics and International Relations from the University of Warwick in 2007. Having developed a strong passion for writing while still at school, I chose to pursue a career in writing parallel with my studies in economics, earning a diploma in journalism. Most of my experience as a writer has come from working with the University newspaper. I learned how to handle working on a deadline, capture the readers’ attention and work with an editor.

Soon after earning my degree, I took a gap-year to travel around Eastern-Europe using this opportunity to expand my knowledge about Eastern European culture, economy, business and politics. This tour served as a great inspiration to me and on my return to the UK I decided to extend my knowledge further in this field and applied to do MSc in Financial Economics. Despite to my hectic academic schedule, journalism remains my main passion to this day and I am delighted to have an opportunity to it to a higher level and share my expertise with millions of readers from all over the world. My primary areas of interest currently include developmental economics, globalization, Eurasian politics/International relations and break-through technological advances.

Apart from my professional expertise, I also enjoy cooking, running, performing arts and exploring the world of music.
